The UNY Disaster Response Team is
collecting flood buckets and health kits at the UNY
Conference United
Methodist Center ’s
Open House, 7481 Henry Clay Blvd. ,
Liverpool . The Open House is Wednesday, May 31
(the day before Annual Conference) from 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Flood buckets and health kits are to be
brought directly to the two garage bays behind the Henry Clay Blvd building.
Relief-supply kits help provide care for the most
vulnerable people during times of crisis. UMCOR collects 6 types of kits for
global distribution and cleaning buckets for US distribution after storms.
Cleaning Bucket Materials

5-gallon
bucket with resealable lid

Buckets from
fast-food restaurants or bakeries can be used if washed and cleaned

Do not use
buckets that have stored chemicals such as paint or pool cleaner
o
Advertisements
on the outside are acceptable

Assembly Directions
Place all liquid items in the bucket first. Place
remaining items in the bucket, fitting them around and between the liquid
items. Sponges, scouring pads, clothespins, and trash bags can be separated in
order to fit all of the items in the bucket. Ensure the lid is closed securely.
Important Notes
·
All items must
be new except for the actual bucket and lid.
·
All cleaning agents
must be liquid and in plastic containers. No powders, please.
·
If you cannot
find the requested size of a liquid item, use a smaller size. Including larger
sizes of any item will prevent the lid from sealing.
·
If all of the
items on the list are not included, please put a label on the bucket indicating
what has been omitted.
·
Cleaning buckets
are only used within the United
States . They are not opened to verify the
contents unless there is indication that some items have been omitted.
·
UMCOR does require
that the source of manufacturing be removed from the kit contents. For
example, if an item in a kit has a stamp that says, “Made in the USA ” or “Made in China ,” that stamp must be removed,
covered or blacked out.

Box
Weight: Each packed box
cannot exceed 66 pounds.
·
Complete
2 packing lists: one for
your records and one to put on the shipping box.
·
Paste the
shipping label / packing list on the outside of each box you send. The shipping
list helps the depot to quickly process kits.
·
Processing
& Shipping Costs: Please
enclose an envelope containing at least $1.50 for each kit you send. This
donation enables kits to be sent to areas in need.

The Upper New York Conference of The United Methodist Church
has an exciting new opportunity for the right individual to join our mission-based team as a full-time Assistant Director at Asbury Camp & Retreat Center.
Located on the shores of Silver Lake in Western New York, Asbury is a premier retreat center that offers a variety of facilities. The site boasts over 60 acres and over a quarter mile of shoreline on Silver Lake. In addition to providing facilities for groups to conduct their own retreats, meetings, worship services, and programs, Asbury assist's with program planning for retreats and workshops, facilitates a low ropes challenge course, and supervises pool and waterfront activities. Asbury also offers year round retreats for families, children and youth, clergy, and adults.
This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of a wide range of program services in accordance with policies established by the Board of Camps and Retreat Ministries, and directives set by the Director of CRM. This would include program leadership, personnel management, public relations/marketing/promotion, and facility oversight.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree, at least three seasons experience in leading camping and/or retreat ministry programs, at least one of which is in an administrative capacity, demonstrated ability to effectively relate to people of different ages and skill levels, and be familiar with and have experience with professional Camping and/or Conference Center Associations. Certification in Camp and Retreat Ministries preferred.

Maundy Thursday through Easter Sunday
Don’t forget about this evening's Maundy Thursday Service @ Perry Center Church; The PAMA Cross Walk on Friday that begins @ 12:30 from Brick Presbyterian ending with a Worship Service at the Holy Apostles Church @ 1 PM; The Good Friday Service here at PFUMC at 7:00 PM (combined service with the Perry Center); The Easter Sunday Sunrise Service @ 7:00 AM led by the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church @ the Charcoal Corral - bring a lawn chair & blanket; and the Easter Worship Service at PFUMC at 11. Also…please have all Easter Memorial Plants to the church by 10 AM on Saturday, April 15th.
