Obituary for Donald Vincent DeLaVergne - Donald Vincent DeLaVergne, 90, of Leicester passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Mt. Morris where he had been residing. Donald was born in Pavilion, NY on May 11, 1927 a son of the late Judd Henry and Cornelia (VanCise) DeLaVergne. Don was a graduate of Pavilion Central High School. He was a self-employed farmer and retired as a heavy equipment operator for Retsof Salt Mine. He was an active member of the Covington United Methodist Church in Covington where he was a member of the board and was one of the first 20 members of the Geneseo War Museum in Geneseo. He was the former sexton of Mt. Ash Cemetery in Covington. He was a pilot who enjoyed flying his Cessna plane and once flew the famous “Memphis Belle” and loved his pet the late “Tinker”. He is survived by five daughters: Sandra M. (Richard) Konarski of Rochester, Debra R. “Debby” (Fred) VanScott of Rochester, Melinda F.”Mindie ” DeLaVergne of Leicester, Laurel L. “Laurie” (Michael) Hamler Sr. of Leicester and Donna Jo (Glenn) White of Mt. Morris, a brother: Richard (Margaret) DeLaVergne of W. VA., 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Amie (DeVinney) DeLaVergne who died on May 8, 2014, and sisters: Vivienne Blanke and Mary Eberly. Family and friends may call from 5-7pm on Friday, August 11th at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry. Services will be held onSunday, August 13th at 1:00pm at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. in Perry. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Ash Cemetery in Covington, New York. Memorial contributions can be made to the Covington United Methodist Church P.O. Box 81 Pavilion, New York 14525.
CHURCH PAINTING DAY: There will be a church wide painting day on August 19th and 26th beginning at 8 AM each day. Come for an hour or the day! Please let Duane Beardsley or Pastor Ray know if you are available to help out or would like more information!

WALK TO EMMAUS: will take place this fall at Faith UMC in Lancaster, N.Y. The men's walk will be held October 12-15 and the women’s walk will be held November 2-5. Pastor Ray will be on the clergy team for the women’s walk. You can see him or any other member of the church who has been on the walk for more information.

CHURCH YARD & RUMMAGE SALE: Summer is quickly flying by and the Fall Rummage Sale will be here before we know it. If you haven’t already done so...now is the time to search through those long forgotten treasures that are taking up space in your closets, attics and basements. It might be just what someone else has been searching for!!! Please have items for the sale to the church by September 11th to allow volunteers enough time to organize things for the sale.
