Joanne W. Vineyard

PERRY — Pastor (Ret) Joanne W. Vineyard passed away Aug. 8, 2019 after a brief struggle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. George D. Vineyard. She is survived by her two children David Vineyard of Pavilion, N.Y. and Theodore (Tedd) Vineyard of Brockport, N.Y. and two siblings Henry Walldorff of Dunkirk, N.Y. and Nancy Harvey of Norfolk Beach, Va.

She attended Cornell University where she met her husband George. They moved to Belmont, N.Y. in the early 1950s where they lived for many decades before moving to become a local Pastor in Sardinia.

Over the years her hobbies included water skiing, quilting, walking, and she was an avid stamp collector.

Joanne was a lifelong supporter of the church. When her children were grown, she completed seminary and became a United Methodist Pastor serving churches in Sardinia and in Gainesville N.Y. before retiring. She continued to be a member of the First Methodist Church in Perry N.Y. until her death. She and her husband supported many missions and missionaries throughout the world. Joanne was an active member and officer of the United Methodist Women’s Group(s) for most of her life.

A memorial service for Jo will be held on Sunday, August 25th, at 2:00 PM at Perry UMC, 35 Covington, Perry, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to: American Cancer Society, any Hospice Home near you, or the University of Rochester Medical Center.
