It is with a heavy heart that I pass along the news to you of Eugene “Chick” Halsey’s passing. He will be sadly missed by his church family. Please keep his family in your prayers. Below is a copy of his obituary with details about his upcoming services.
Obituary for Eugene C. "Chick" Halsey Sr.
Eugene C. "Chick" Halsey Sr., 80, of Perry, passed away on Wednesday July 30, 2014 at the Wyoming County CommunityHospital in Warsaw. He was born April 5, 1934 in Buffalo to the late Clair (Helen White) Halsey Sr. He is preceded in death by his grandson Bruce Brick Jr. and siblings Joan Fox and Clair Halsey Jr.
Eugene served with the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a construction supervisor for the Rochester Building Trades. Eugene enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was also a devoted Democrat who had a great interest in politics.
He is survived by 5 daughters, Wendy Brick of Lakeland, Fla.; Cindy (Mark) Stokes of Chili; Jill Lapergola of Rochester; Kelly (Jeff) Valera of Petaluma, CA.; Samantha Halsey of Manhattan, 2 sons, Mark (Penny) Halsey of Spring, TX.; Eugene “Chip” Halsey of Perry, 9 grandchildren, Jenny (Dave) Brooks; Jay (Amanda) Brick; Casey Halsey; Brett (Candice) Halsey; Eric Halsey; James Halsey; Michael Stokes; Dana Stokes; and Calder Valera, 6 great grandchildren, Layla Halsey; Zoey Brick; Cameron and Nicholas Brooks and Kendall and Tyler Brick, along with 2 nephews and a niece.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday August 2nd at Glenwood Cemetery in Perry at 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wyoming County Community Hospital 400 N. Main St. Warsaw, NY 14569 or to the First United Methodist 35 Covington St. Perry, NY 14530.
