PERRY EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY: Donations of food can be placed in the box in the Narthex or financial donations can be mailed to 6 North Main Street, PO Box 222.

SPECIAL EMERGENCY OFFERING: Please keep the people in Nepal in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with the aftermath of the earthquake that  occurred on April 25. More than 4,000 are dead, more than 6,500 people are injured, and thousands are living in tents as their homes have been destroyed. A special offering for the Nepal earthquake relief can be made by using the envelope in this week’s bulletin or by going online to UMCOR's International Disaster Relief Fund Advance #982450.             

LOVING GOD W/YOUR CAMERA @ ASBURY: Nancy Wilson will be leading a workshop at Asbury on May 16th (registration deadline in May 8th) from 9-4. The cost is $25 and included lunch and the workshop. More information can be found at the Asbury website, table in the Narthex or straight from Nancy!

PERRY GARDEN CLUB’S: annual Plant Variety & Baked Goods sale is Saturday, May 9th from 9-12 PM at the Perry Fireman’s Building in Perry Park. There will be Annuals, Perennials, Hanging Baskets, Baked Goods & a        Children’s Corner.

YOUTH CHOIR! All children and youth from ages 6 to 15 are invited to join Val Kelly for the Youth Choir practice on Sundays at 10:30 AM in the 2nd floor Sunday School Room for a special Mother’s Day tribute.

A VITAL CONGREGATION MEETING The Vital Congregation Meetings with that were scheduled for April 30th and May 2nd have been POSTPONED. At this time a new date has not been set. As soon as it has...I will let you know!

BENEDICTION CHANGES: The Congregation will be joining the Choir in singing #2279 The Trees of the Field for the Benediction for the next few Sundays. The words are also printed on the back of the bulletin.

YOUTH CHOIR! All children and youth from ages 6 to 15 are invited to join Val Kelly for the Youth Choir practice on Sundays at 10:30 AM in the 2nd floor Sunday School Room for a special Mother’s Day tribute.

UMW RUMMAGE SALE: will take place Friday, April 24th from 9-5 and on Saturday, April 25th from 10-12. The $2 bag sale will be on Saturday only. Please have items for the sale to church by Monday, April 20th so that it can be sorted and labeled. Then come and find your new treasures during the sale!

CHICKEN BBQ & BAZAAR: will be held at the Covington UMC. Saturday, April 25th from 4-7 PM. Adults meals are $9.50 and children under 12 are $5. Take outs will be available.

Obituary for George D. Vineyard
George D. Vineyard, age 85 of Perry died on Monday April 13, 2015 at his home.

George D. Vineyard DVM was born on Feb. 1, 1930 in Bridgeton, New Jersey a son to the late Sara and Howard Vineyard. He attended University of Penn pre-Vet and graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1953. He set up his Veterinary practice in Belmont, NY where he had a mixed practice of small and large animals for 26 years. He worked as a field Veterinarian for the US Dept. of Agriculture and Markets for 13 years before retiring to Perry in 1995. He served with the US Army.
George enjoyed music. He sang in choirs all his life, and directed the choir in Belmont United Methodist Church for many years. He was a member of the Warsaw Barbershoppers and part of several other quartettes in the area. George was a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church all his life. In Perry he served as Finance Comm. chairperson in the Perry First United Methodist Church. He worked the Wyoming County Office of the Aging doing tax returns for the elderly. He was active in the Western New York Walk to Emmaus.


A life long learner he and his wife “Jo” enjoyed many elder hostel (Now Road Scholar) trip and listened to Great Courses disc. He enjoyed games on the computer, jigsaw puzzles, card games with friends, walks and gardening. He had a keen mind, and a delightful sense of humor. He loved the Lord and his life of service was his witness. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.


George married Joanne “Jo” (Walldorff) in Dunkirk, NY in 1954. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary. Two sons; David of Pavilion, Ted NP (Sue) of Brockport, five grandchildren; Jeff (Jenny) of Wellsville, Jessica of Wellsville, Christopher of Rochester, Katlyn (Kevin) of Syracuse and Matthew of Brockport.


Family and friends may call from 1-2pm on Saturday April 18th at the First United Methodist Church 35 Covington St. Perry where a Memorial service will follow at 2PM. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery in Perry. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to donor’s choice.
